Who is Ruby Weber from Second Glance: A Novel and what is their importance?

Ruby Weber was a French Canadian woman, who once serves as the house girl for the Pikes. At the age of fourteen, Ruby seemed better able to understand what it was like to be a child and had the maturity to deal with things that Cecelia wasn't strong enough to handle. When Cecelia attempted to take her own life, she begged Ruby to protect her baby at all costs. After Spencer Pike attempted to kill the infant, Ruby stole the baby and raised her as her own. In the end, Luze, Cecelia's child, died of a heart attack upon learning the truth about her biological family.
