What is the author's style in Season of the Machete by James Patterson?

The story is written from an omniscient point of view, which is really the only point of view that would have worked for this book. No single character is present for all the events that occur, meaning that any one person couldn't have told the entire story. For example, Carrie Rose completes several actions apart from all the other players. Leaving those details out would have seriously changed the book, limiting the reader's understanding of what's happening. Likewise, it's necessary for the reader to know the thoughts of some, and those thoughts are included in the omniscient view. Additionally, there are sections of the diary presumably kept by Carrie and Damian Rose during the season of the machete murders. These offer a look deeper in to the characters of the killers that would not otherwise have been possible. This becomes an effective tool to give the reader an even wider point of view than would otherwise have been possible.
