Who is Amy Lee?

Amy Lee is a 26-year-old woman. She is of Chinese descent and American nationality. She is the daughter of Ma and Pa, and she lives with them in New York City. She wants to be a teacher. However, she occasionally suffers from anxiety and a stutter, both of which have temporarily prevented her from earning official teaching credentials. After Sylvie goes missing in Amsterdam, Amy takes it upon herself to fly there and help search for Sylvie. Amy meets her extended family—the Tan family—and finds them somewhat strange and stiff. Amy does not want to accept the possibility that Sylvie may be dead, but she remains suspicious that someone may have been actively involved in Sylvie’s disappearance.
