Significance of Homs

Homs is the third largest city in the country of Syria. The narrator was born and raised on a farm near Homs. As an adult, he lived in Homs with his wife and son. Life there was content and peaceful for the family. However, after the Syrian Civil War began, Homs was heavily damaged by bombs and violence. The narrator and his family flee Homs in order to escape from war-torn Syria.
