Why did Cap want to do something nice for Sophie?

Sophie is frustrated. She worshipped her father who left the family. Sophie's father promissed her a lot but seldom delivered. Sophie takes her frustrations out on Cap and her mother. Cap consistently returns her nastiness with kindness, attempting to show her how to drive and engraving the bracelet her father promised to engrave. I think Cap feels her pain.
