In Chapter 13, why are Nick and Marta called to Dr. Dressler's office?

Dr. Dressler calls Nick into his office because a letter has come that is written on Mrs. Starch's letterhead thanking Nick and Marta for their concern for her, but asking them not to delve any longer in her personal affairs.
