What is Hiraizumi?

Hiraizumi is a city controlled by the powerful Hidehira of the Fujiawara clan in northern Japan. The city is beautiful, wealthy, and flourishing when Yoshitsune seeks shelter there as a teen to train as a samurai. Years later, when enemy forces approach the city under Yoritomo, Hiraizumi is burned to the ground so it will not fall into the hands of the Minamoto.
