Pamela S. Turner tells her book Samurai Rising from the third-person reflective and nearly-omniscient perspective, in a tone friendly to, and supportive of, Yoshitsune. The book’s purpose is to document his life and his exploits, noting his heroism and his honor. Because of this, the book defends Yoshitsune and his decision-making, though it also portrays even his enemies, like Kiyomori and Yoritomo in a fair light.
