How was Tabasco invented?

The family that owned the Louisiana salt works went back after the war and bought the salt rich Avery Island. A friend called McIIhenny soon joined them, bringing with him small Mexican chili peppers to farm. Combining the salt with the peppers and a touch of vinegar, McIlhenny invented a hot sauce became known as Tabasco.
