Who is Roy Peabody from Salem Falls and what is their importance?

Roy Peabody is the husband of the late Margaret, father of Addie and grandfather of Chloe. He has problems with drinking ever since his wife died after they were fighting. He is arrested for driving under the influence when he is caught riding a lawn mower down a highway while drunk. Roy lets Jack St. Bride live with him and slowly grows fond of him. When Jack is on trial for raping Gillian Duncan, Roy supports Jack and testifies on his behalf. He brings food from the diner for the court.
