Who is Addie Peabody from Salem Falls and what is their importance?

Addie Peabody is a waitress and owner of the Do-Or-Diner. She is the daughter of Roy and the late Margaret Peabody. She had a daughter, Chloe, who died. Addie copes with Chloe's death by pretending she is still alive. The other workers at the diner patronize her and pretend to help her with Chloe. She falls in love with Jack St. Bride, who helps her get over Chloe. She stands by Jack when he is accused of rape, and helps vindicate Jack. Addie was raped when she was a teenager by Charlie Saxton, Amos Duncan, and another boy who later died. Chloe was conceived during this rape, although Addie doesn't know who the actual father was. Addie also tries to keep her father, Roy, from drinking.
