In the poem entitled “candy-striped,” (81), Anderson tells the reader about her position as a candy-striper in a hospital. At one point, she discusses the way in which she had been asked to bring some files down to the morgue because “computers were still waiting to be invented” (81). The way in which Anderson instills the human quality of waiting is a strong example of personification.
