What blunder does Rosencrantz make over what he thinks is a woman?

When a female figure enters, Rosencrantz assumes it is the queen and he marches up behind her and puts his hands over her eyes, saying, "Guess who?" The Player enters, and identifies the queen as Alfred, the boy in his troupe. Rosencrantz asks to be excused.
