When Jane visits the Brandts in town, the Mormon women are very worried about her behavior. These women seem to know the conspiracy and know that Tull will win in the end, because is so powerful. These women are trying to save Jane's life telling her that her reward will be in heaven, and she does not need to love her husband on earth, only submit to him. Marrying Tull would be the right thing for Jane to do as it would be sanctioned by the Morman church and would include her into the community.
