What happens when Mare falls in Chapter 7?

As Evangeline moves the boxes, Mare falls into the shield of electricity. Her uniform burns. She can feel the sparks in the shield, and they make Mare feel alive. When Evangeline throws metal shards at Mare, Mare throws up her hands and lightning erupts, blazes through the metal, and nearly hits Evangeline.
