Describe symbolism in Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier

In Chapter Eight, we come to see that each time Mrs. de Winter is reminded of Rebecca it symbolizes the intrusion of the dead women in her life. The author cannot break out of her shyness and insecurity until the vision of Rebecca ceases to loom over her.
