Percy Driscoll was Judge Driscoll's younger brother. He was a business man, who spent most of his son's (Toms') childhood trying to secure a land deal tha became complicated by a lawsuit.

Thomas is Percy's only living child, as he lost all his other children to childhood illnesses. Thomas was raised by Roxana, Percy's slave, because his mother died shortly after his birth. Unfortunately, Percy wasn't home often enough to notice that Roxana switched her own child with Thomas. In fact, Percy never learned the truth. Percy died when Thomas was fifteen. He was deep in debt, and his estate was settled for only sixty percent of what was owed. When word got out that Tom Driscoll was really Chambers, a slave, Percy's creditors insisted on being allowed to sell Tom for the remainder of the debt. Tom Driscoll, aka Chambers, was sold down river, just what his mother feared would happen.
