Although, Roxy is one of the novel's main characters, I disagree that she can be seen as a protagonist. Yes, she wants the very best that she can provide for her son.... unfortunately, her methods are deceptive and life-altering for other characters. She also blackmails her son for her own financial benefit and schemes in order to hide her real son's gambling debts.
