Charlie Peaceful from Private Peaceful is the middle brother, but the older brother to Thomas. Their oldest brother is not able to care for them any longer, so it falls to Charlie to be the male role model. He ends up falling in love with a girl named Molly, but they hide the fact from Thomas who was also in love with Molly. The owner of their farm tells Charlie that he must join the army or he will kick them out of the house, so he does. When he joins, Thomas does too.
