Why do Amanda and Elyot choose Paris to run away to?

Amanda has a flat in Paris. Although Victor knows of it, he does not know where it is. They reason that this will give them some time to themselves before they need to deal with the problems of their marriages. In overall themes of the story, though, Paris is known as the city of love, which holds great significance to a couple of characters who are rediscovering their love for each other.
