In the section titled, Thanksgiving Day, we learn that people tend to have a preconceived notion of what a princess looks and acts like. In Mia's case, she thinks her looks are ironic because she is tall, has wiry hair, and is going through her awkward stage as a 14-year-old girl. It is also a bit ironic that many girls dream of being a princess, but in Mia's case it is a reality that she learns of when she is 14. There is a foreshadowing that the rest of the novel will contain details on Mia taking her ongoing princess lessons with Grandmere. Because Mia is so outspoken on certain issues and a bit awkward, it also foreshadows Mia's official debut as a princess.
being somewhat of a disaster.
