In what ways does Chapter 10 in Persuasion contribute to the structure and development of the novel as a whole?

In Chapter 10, the reader comes to understand the distinct connections being made (or not) between characters. Anne, the protagonist, becomes isolated, as Captain Wentworth and Louisa, as well as Henrietta and Hayter pair off as couples.

In addition, we also see Anne become increasingly aware of how much she hurt Wentworth, as the two exchange knowing glances. This foreshadows a continuin but fragile connection that may or may not be reignited.
