Why does Krystal complain about Patina's running when they are practicing handing off a baton?

Whit has the girls practice handing off a baton. She shows them how to start running and reach back for the baton as the other runner moves up to hand it to them. When Patina takes off running prepared to get the baton from Krystal, Krystal cannot run fast enough to get the baton to Patina. She then complains that Patina is overrunning.
