Mr. B initially wishes to embark on an illicit relationship with Pamela. He puts her in numerous compromising situations, and he is jealous and controlling. Over time, however, Mr. B comes to appreciate and respect Pamela because of her virtuous behavior. He no longer wishes to put her reputation in question... he wishes to marry her.
