There are certainly different classes of people. That was a given during this era. There were always the poor, slaves, nobility, royalty. Shakespeare's plays are made up of this and one can see it in the play Othello. Certainly Othello, a moor, has jumped up in class because of his importance to the military. The Duke will not punish him for marrying Desdemona, a white girl of nobility, because Othello is so important to the army and the state.
