Somewhere Along the Line, a Pearl Would be Handed to Me takes place in Pearl Harbor during the Japanese attack. For most of the story, Muss and Myti explore the ocean surrounding the U.S., attached to a battleship. At the story's end, this battleship pulls into Pearl Harbor. Ironically, Pearl Harbor becomes a place of new life for Muss and Myti, for after the battleship docks, the two father a new clan of mussels. However, in a short period of times, the attack occurs, making Pearl Harbor a place of new life and sudden death.
