What is the author's style in One for the Money by Janet Evanovich?

One for the Money is written in first person, through the eyes of Stephanie Plum. By writing in the first person, the author faces the possibility of limiting the story telling to the experiences and perceptions of the lead character. In the case of One for the Money, the first person point of view works very well. The reader gets an opportunity to see inside the mind of a fledgling bounty hunter and how life experiences affect her character and actions. Since Stephanie has insecurities about self-worth, the challenges presented play off both her strengths and weaknesses - mostly her weaknesses. The first person point of view allows a broader understanding of why Stephanie does what she does. It also gives the reader insight to the most basic facts about the main character, such as being raised as a female in rough and ready Trenton, New Jersey and being the less than perfect daughter in comparison to a seemingly Stepford-like sister.
