The novel is narrated in the third-person omniscient perspective, though certain chapters of the novel in the first-person omniscient perspective. In each chapter, the narrator focuses on a specific character in relation to the overall course of events, allowing the reader glimpses into their minds, thoughts, and feelings that are sometimes not expressed, and allowing the reader a God’s eye view into moments, situations, conversations, and events that the other characters themselves may not be aware of.
