Imagery:

"Yes! There was a whine, did you hear it? Then a flash of yellow light, a ...a shock-wave going out all around use, and then it was gone, and so was everything else! Where are we?"

As we crossed the edge of blues and golds, they spread before us to the end of sight. Somewhere out there was a precise few feet of water where we needed to touch down, the doorway to our own time. Where?
