Who is Lourdes?

Lourdes is Prieto's daughter. Although Prieto often feels frustrated with his life, Lourdes is the one consistently good thing he has. At the end of the novel, when Prieto tells her that he is gay and has HIV, Lourdes responds with grace and empathy. Her reception comforts Prieto and eases his distress.
