Who is Samoset from Of Plymouth Plantation, 1620-1647 and what is their importance?

Samoset was the first Indian chief to peacefully meet with the pilgrims after their arrival. He was from the Algonkian Sagamore tribe in Maine. It was there that he met and spent time with English fishermen, and thus, learned the language.
