What is the main conflict in Of Human Bondage by W. Somerset Maugham?

The main conflict is centered around Philip's struggle with society and the way people constantly use his club foot as a way to hurt, ridicule, exclude or otherwise judge him. It is also with himself, as he has to discover his own worth.
