To popularize the carnival, the carnival owners place coupons in the paper; if children bring them for "children's day" they can get free lemonade. But when Sandy goes with his colored friends, they are barred from going in because of their race. Sandy, Willie-Mae and the others are furious, humiliated and hurt.
