What is the author's style in Noble House: A Novel of Contemporary Hong Kong by James Clavell?

For the most part, the language of the novel is clear and easy to read. Any hidden meanings in terms, especially in the scenes involving espionage, are explained immediately by the author so the reader is not left wondering.
