What does Naheed remember about receiving her first hajib?

Naheed remembers that she received her first hijab when she was nine. Her mother gave it to her. It was a beautiful robin's-egg blue, like her eyes. Her mother had shown her how to put it on and fold it around and around. They laughed as they worked together. Naheed remembered that her mother had told her that when she observed hijab, it would always remind her of who she was.
