The novel's climax occurs on the night that Nightbitch goes out to dinner with her graduate school friends and everything goes wrong. Throughout their evening at this unnamed restaurant, Nightbitch feels increasingly angered by her former classmates' condescension and narcism. Instead of ignoring them or verbally confronting them, Nightbitch breaks out into a doglike temper tantrum. She barks, howls, yells about the strength of her vagina, steals meat off a customer's plate, and tears out of the establishment. This scene, and thus the setting, mark a breaking point in Nightbitch's experience.
