What is the author's style in Next to Normal by Brian Yorkey?

The narrative explores the points of view and experiences of all the main characters, each of them revealing at one point or another, through song and/or through confrontation, the truth and depths of their feelings, attitudes, beliefs and reactions. Diana is the character whose point of view is most frequently explored, her journeys and her struggles being placed front and center in the narrative. What makes the work so interesting, and so engaging, is not only that the points of view of the other characters are also explored, but that each of them is portrayed and/or experienced as being multifaceted, both admirable and flawed, worthy of respect and even affection as well as triggers for frustration, complication, and even resentment.
