How is Gabe different as a character from the others in Act 1, Scenes 1-3?

The most intriguing presence in this opening section is Gabe. His presence is only particularly intriguing in hindsight, when the reader looks at how he acts and how the other characters interact with him while taking into consideration the fact that he's dead as revealed in the following section
