Why is Jordan upset by Rawle's inability to remember his name in the graphic novel, New Kid?

Names represent one's identity. Jordan writes in his sketchbook that he is offended by Rawle’s inability to remember his name because it signifies to him that she is not interested in getting to know him well enough to remember who he is.
