What does Flatline say is the problem with Wintermute? What can Case and Flatline tell about what Wintermute wants?

The problem with Wintermute is that since it is not human, its motivations are difficult to understand. Flatline states that while his construct responds like a human, he is not capable of the type of thought that an AI is. Wintermute's situation does provide some insight, however. Since it is attempting to have itself hacked, it must need to change something about its situation. Since its situation is one of bondage at the hands of Tessier-Ashpool, freedom must be the goal that Wintermute is pursuing.
