In Chapter 22, what does Jack find in his backpack that weren't there the night before?

When Jack gets into his backpack, he finds some extra items that had not been in there the night before. He finds a pouch of nuts, dry matches, some chocolate bars, two apples, and a flashlight. He also finds a book of poetry and a letter to Emmaline.
