Why does Dimple turn to the Christian church in the novel, Narcopolis?

Dimple seeks out the Christian church to appeal to Jesus Christ, wanting Him in her life, and wanting Him to help her find her way out of the slums. The Church becomes a galvanizing moment for Dimple, who will from thereon be in search for a way to escape the slum.
