Teacake is the family cat whom Jessica raised from a kitten. David experiments with the Life Ritual on Teacake. He is afraid at first that his experiment failed, but when he and Jessica return from the trip to the Everglades, the cat is alive again. Because Teacake is lying on the hood of the van when she takes Kira from David, Jessica pitches him in the car with her.
