Who is Randall Gaines from My Soul to Keep and what is their importance?

Randall Gaines is the man with whom Jessica's mother, Bea, begins seeing about the same time that David and Jessica decide to go abroad. Gaines supports Bea through the hospitalization of both her daughters. Gaines goes to Africa with Jessica, Bea and Alexis to start the children's clinic. He is the man who brings David into Jessica's house the day he comes to visit.
