Lonnie Parker is Tiger's father and Corrina's husband. He works at the Thompson Nursery, where he assists with the propagation of Mr. Thompson's new, prized flower, which is dubbed the Louisiana Lady. After Granny's death, Tiger feels sorry for her father because he doesn't know how to do simple things like paying the bills. Tiger also gets angry with her father when he doesn't know how to make the arrangements for Granny's funeral. In the end, Tiger will learn that her father's true strength comes from his love for his family, and his understanding of nature. He may not understand paying bills, but he is comfortable and happy working outdoors in the garden and nursery.
