The Regina Palast is the lavish hotel where the British delegation and the Czech representatives both stay during the conference. For Chamberlain and his entourage, it is merely a comfortable staging ground that allows them to avoid publicly parading Hitler’s hospitality, for example when they choose not to attend his banquet at the Führerbau. For the Czech delegation, however, the hotel is a prison where the Gestapo deliberately hold them away from the conference, limiting their access to information or their ability to make the voices and fears of their countrymen heard.
