In my opinion, all schools and teachers will need to have a remote learning plan in place and ready to utilize. I believe that traditional learning has turned a new corner, that the closure of schools has set a precedent, and that all educators, students, and parents will need to be prepared.
There are numerous online tools for education available, although many were unaware of how they worked, and a large number of teachers were required to take a crash course in order to fulfull their roles. Training is essential for everyone involved.
Admittedly, some of my students thrived in the multimedia setting. The elimination of distractions provided essential learning for some who struggle in the general education environment. As a result, there are some students who would benefit from full time remote learning.
Other students, however, struggled to engage without socialization. A small percentage did not participate at all. For these students, parent participation is essential. Remote learning cannot work without participation.
Multimedia technology has become increasingly important in the classroom, and its prospects are limitless. Companies providing access to remote learning will need to iron out things like disconnections and difficulties with sound, ect. Companies providing curriculum based multimedia will need to focus on material that is engaging, stimulating, compact, and paced.
