In the opening pages of the novel, Mim admits that she has faced – and succumbed – to various kinds of peer pressure. As she goes on a lengthy journey, she discovers she is still susceptible to peer pressure in some situations. However, she slowly reaches a point that she can stand up for herself and for others.
