Ten years ago, Hugh had been one of several cops on the ground 22 stories below the Regions Plaza. A young man was threatening to jump. Hugh volunteered to talk to the kid. After talking together, Hugh got the young man to come down. After that, Hugh was recommended by his chief to become a negotiator.
