How does Laszlo come to live with Claudia in the novel, Moon Tiger?

Laszlo’s father contacts Claudia after getting her phone number from the newspaper for which she writes articles about the Hungarian Revolution in 1956. Laszlo’s father asks Claudia to help Laszlo and to tell him never to return to Hungary, which is in shambles after the revolution. Laszlo lives with Claudia for a time and remains her intimate friend throughout her life.
